No Joy in Mudville

by Jim Siergey

This World Series sure done went screwy
with champs being wild card St. Looey
.     Midwest thinks it’s grand
.     but Cubs fans sneer and
collectively catcall, “Ah, Phooey!”

  1. Alan Rudy wrote,

    A Card’s fan’s fears

’tis true the World Series went screwy
LaRussa relaxed and Cards went bablooey
    – yet DeWiit, penny pincher
    – despite cash from the clincher
Nickles and dimes Albert out of St. Looey

  2. Ember Nickel wrote,

    My view remains the same:

  3. James Finn Garner wrote,

Good one, Alan. Maybe Albert will have a change of heart

  4. Hilary Barta wrote,

For the Cubs fan, those bleeding true bluey
Each season turns into chop suey
    They’re stuck with the curse
    But what sucks even worse
Is a club that succeeds in Saint Louie.

  5. Hilary Barta wrote,

    Cubs Fans Mixes Metaphors

While they’re crowning the Cards in Saint Louie
We drown in despair with no buoy
    We’re screwed in the rear
‘Cause we booed them all year
And the crow that we’re eating is chewy.
