Third Bag for MVP !

by James Finn Garner

Beltre thought it a routine DP,
As simple as, well, 6 – 4 – 3,
.     But third base interrupted
.     And the Tigers erupted
And are still fighting for the ALC

Driven Hard, Still Eats Up The Road

Son, take a look at this year’s Verlander,
This model’s sure worth a gander.
.     With the mileage he’s racked up
.     He still hasn’t cracked up
And his aim down the road never wanders.

  1. Hilary Barta wrote,

Everyone wants in on the limericks–they’re contagious!

  2. Hilary Barta wrote,

That hit over Beltre was crazy
A bit of the old upsy-daisy
    The Rangers were trounced
    when Detroit’s way it bounced,
    still kicking like Cameron Swayze.

  3. Norm Knott wrote,

    Tigers, Tigers, burning bright
Hit for cycle in the night
Can it be a sign from Heaven
that they’ll be in a Game Seven?

  4. Hilary Barta wrote,

    Love that one, “Norm”.

  5. Ember Nickel wrote,

Continuing from a slightly older theme:

The closer who wears the big glasses
    Keeps enthralling the Detroit masses.
    Will he be a klutz
    Does he have the guts?
And can he kick the Rangers’…butts?

  6. Hilary Barta wrote,

Tonight, if the weather stays dry,
the Tigers will give it a try
    In duct tape they’re bandaged,
    yet somehow they’ve managed
to fight to game 6, do or die.

  7. James Finn Garner wrote,

for completeness’ sake, Jim Siergey posted this on my Facebook page on Friday before the elimination:

The Tigers are not quitting types
though Rangers make pitchers say “Yipes”
    It’s so episodic
    and quite patriotic
This game ‘tween the Lone Stars and Stripes
