Tampa Bay and the Yankees–
They’re running neck-and-neck.
Each team a game over .500 . . .
And fighting for first place?
Mind you, those also-rans–
The Red Sox, Orioles, Blue Jays–
Aren’t so far behind. But, hey,
What’s happened to the AL East?
Dunno. Let’s hang up a sign–
For Sale: 1 Over-Hyped Division.
Over-Priced Team–Your Choice.
Get it now–Cheap!
Not sure about Tampa Bay, but the Yanks are 7 games over .500, not one. They’re still on an 8-game winning streak. But the AL East was weak last year as well, compared to AL Central and AL West.
I stand corrected: the Yanks are on a six-game winning streak, not eight. Wishful thinking on my part, but it IS possible yet. What I like about this is that they are playing better than expected. Still too early to tell if they’ll make it to post-season, but at least they’re making things interesting!
Not Stephen’s fault: I sat on this over the weekend, and the numbers changed. If he (and now the Yankees) weren’t prolific, this wouldn’t be a problem!
I think they are what most commentators thought they would be in a division without a single notable team.
