Schwarbombs explode over
Broad Street at night.
Topper plays hunches–
they’re usually right.
Wheeler flings filth and
Nola, confusion.
For Segura, the strike zone’s
just an illusion.
Stott and Bohm swing in
a daycare of fun.
Realmuto’s got jets
and one golden gun.
Jose breaks a hundy,
and Seranthony, too.
Those bat flips of Hoskins
fire up the whole crew.
That brings us to Harper,
the Philly headliner,
who stirs more than the drink —
he’s the whole damn diner.
Michael X. Ferraro is a lifelong Phillies fan and the author of Tased and Amused, a baseball poetry recap of the 2010 MLB season, along with Circus Catch, the funniest football novel since Moby-Dick Butkus.
