In baseball’s Wild Card deck,
An ace can be trumped, by heck.
While expected to win,
They wound up in the bin–
Some Rangers might pay with their necks.

Astros reliever Chuckie Fick?
Broadcasters hope he doesn’t stick.
They like him fine–don’t get me wrong,
But flub his name, and you won’t work long.
Former Cream bassist ponders lost love in the wake of the Impossible Dream.
Steven Strasburg is the news,
Everybody’s giving views
About his shutdown, good or bad,
So many writers seem so mad!
If he was all the Nats could boast,
Then Washington would look like toast.

Hitting left-handers is what I do.

And I’ll hit .300–but field that, too.
Try me at third, or left, or right,
My glove is decent but I don’t move well.
My bat drags heavy, though my salary’s light,
And I wish that I had more to sell.
But hitting those southpaws gets me a gig–
I’ve already graced three teams this year!
With a bit more skill, my salary would be big,
But sometimes I’m just glad to be here.
