What Can Reggie Say After He Says He’s Sorry

by David Bellel

What can I say, Al dear, after I say I’m sorry,
Though we all know you’re no better than Tony Lazzeri

I should have known the response of that Nazi-like crew
But you know stirring the drink is what I do

I was all wrong, (not really) but right or wrong I don’t blame you
Why should I take a juicer like you and shame you

I know it really should apply
More to Big Papi, dear
What can I say, Al dear, after I say I’m sorry

Rocket on the Docket

by Hilary Barta

On a witness a trial may hinge
When a twit did supply the syringe
In his ass was he juiced,
Giving fastballs a boost?
They acquitted, but my, did they cringe.

The State vs. Clemens (And Let’s Move On)

by Stephen Jones

5-year trial over
Roger Clemens now acquitted
Such waste of dollars

Public reaction?
Like his contriteness mixed
But this play is done

Now comes next year’s act
How will Cooperstown decide?
New theater to come

The Roger Clemens Trial, So Far

by Stephen Jones

5 weeks & 3 dismissed jurors later

(jurors having fallen asleep
during counsel’s endless
seemingly pointless examination
& then by law let go)

this trial has exceeded boredom
is now treading in dysfunctional limbo
& has left a bitter taste:

day-by-day less truth is being
observed/served & one could wish
somebody would call off the whole
thing on account “of legal rain”
