Brewers’ Dog Days

by the Brewer Haiku-er (@brew_haiku)

Tuesday, August 16
Cubs 4/4, Brewers 0/1
A sweep at Wrigley
We lose both games and players
Braun, Anderson hurt

Wednesday, August 17
Cubs 6, Brewers 1
Third straight loss to Cubs
Enough to make Crew fans drink
A case of Old Style

Thursday, August 18
Cubs 9, Brewers 6
Crew put up some runs
But cannot contain Bryant
Cubs are dominant

Perseverance

by Doug Fahrendorff

Junior Guerra
At age 31, a unique rookie
His baseball odyssey a winding road
Stops at Braves and Mets minor league affiliates
Independent ball
The Mexican league
And Italian pro baseball
This year he arrived in Milwaukee
His pitching success
A bright spot in a rebuilding year
However long his success lasts
It’s worthwhile
Celebrating his perseverance

Mid-April Brewer Blues

by the Brewer Haiku-er (@brew_haiku)

April 15
Brewers 7, Pirates 4
PNC boos Braun
So he steps up and jacks one
2 homers 2 nite

April 17
Pirates 5, Brewers 0
When the Brewers lose
They do it in a big way
Ain’t no runs tonight

April 18
Pirates 9, Brewers 3
No comeback today
Crew makes a dent in the 4th
McCutch slams door shut

Opening Day

by Doug Fahrendorff

April
Has finally returned
Days longer
The sun warmer
The ennui of winter
Gives way
To the excitement of spring
Best of all
Baseball is back
Harbinger of the halcyon days of summer
One more season
Following the national pastime
Today at Miller Park
The journey begins
Play ball!

Brewer Sweep

by Doug Fahrendorff

Three straight wins
Over the Pirates
Nice start to
Seasons 2nd half
Improvement obvious
Pulling some fans
From midseason languor
Team still far
From playoff contention
Questions abound
If  Brewers are sellers
At the deadline
Will  Gomez, Segura
Parra or Lind
Be playing elsewhere next month?
And who will remain
To form the nucleus
Of next year’s team?
