Good Start

by Doug Fahrendorff

Two months down
Brewers leading the division
Cain and Yelich
Better than advertised
Shutdown bullpen
As good as any in baseball
Pundits not impressed
Offense not consistent
Starting pitching
Questionable at best
Numerous players must step up
The next four months
For the Brewers to remain in contention
Fans expecting a bumpy ride
Following the crew

Brewers Lose Series to Cellar-Dwellers

by the Brewer Haiku-er

58. White Sox 8, Brewers 3
Counsell calls the pen
3 pitchers give up 3 runs
In bottom of 6th

59. Brewers 5, White Sox 0
Order is restored
Crew knocks around last-place Sox
And beats South Siders

60. White Sox 6, Brewers 1
A minor road bump?
Loss to basement-dweller Sox
Leaves Crew with some work

A Staff for All Seasons

By Jim Siergey

When wintry winds cause batsmen
All to whiff and to wail,
They’re laughed off by a moundsman
Whose name is Rich Gale.

While batters may wish it were dry
And comfortably warm,
The winds won’t bother a Davis
With a first name like Storm.

When the field becomes mired
In a swampy wet bog
And the sky is grayed o’er,
Make the call to Josh Fogg.

If the weather gets so bad
Fans all need to take cover,
You need a staff with Jim Coates
And, of course, Gary Glover.

Baseball’s Back

by Doug Fanhrendorff

New season underway
After last year
Expectations high in Milwaukee
Moving from rebuild to contend
Cain and Yelich
Top revamped lineup
Starting pitching a question mark
Early return of Nelson would help
Counsell’s task
Find sufficient at-bats
For everyone on the roster
Playoffs the goal
Go Brewers!

Chasing October

by Doug Fahrendorff

For the Brewers and their fans
Dreams of a division title
Gone
Wildcard still in play
Six games left
Still work to do
Finish a great season
On a winning note
Hopefully a berth in the playoffs
